Abstract: Self-broadened and foreign-gas (N/sub 2/ and O/sub 2/) broadened linewidths of ethylene at 300K for a wide range of quantum numbers J and K/sub a/, for all three types of bands, were calculated using the Anderson-Tsao-Curnutte theory of line broadening. C/sub 2/H/sub 4/ has a zero value of the dipole moment in its ground state. Therefore, only the quadrupolar interactions were considered in the linewidth computations. The molecular quadrupole moment tensor of C/sub 2/H/sub 4/ was taken from Mulder and Huiszoon. Air-broadened linewidths of C/sub 2/H/sub 4/ at 200K have also been calculated, so that the temperature dependence can be estimated.
