Abstract: This chapter first describes the theoretical background on the enzyme kinetics model used by the core model and the agent-based models (ABMs) to regulate the growth and development of mosquito vectors. It then discusses some recent works on stochastic thermodynamic models and the origin of historical models for organism development, including the Arrhenius plots and the Arrhenius equation. The chapter also derives the Eyring equation and concepts of Gibbs free energy, entropy, and enthalpy are then sequentially incorporated into the equation, yielding the final form of the Eyring equation. It further addresses the model developed by Sharpe and DeMichele, deriving the final equation of development for the model and describes the nonlinear regression model derived by Schoolfield et al. It also discusses the model developed by Depinay et al. The chapter concludes with the major findings that are directly affected by temperature.
