Ex-Vivo Expansion of Previously Cryopreserved, Thawed and Re-Cryopreserved Cord Blood Mononuclear Cells (CBMC) Utilizing K562-mbIL21-41BBL; Potential for Adoptive Cellular Immunotherapy Post Umbilical Cord Blood Transplantation (UCBT)
Year: 2016
Type: article
Abstract: UCBT has been utilized successfully in children and adolescents with both malignant and non-malignant disease (Cairo, Blood 2011; Wagner/Cairo, Blood 1997; Geyer/ Cairo, BJH 2011). One of the limitations to utilizing UCB is the inability to obtain donor lymphocytes for T/NK cell infusions following UCBT (DLI/DNKI) (Cairo, BBMT 2008; Liao/Cairo, Exp Hem 2011). CB, however, is rich in lymphoid progenitor cells (Cairo/Kurtzberg, Transfusion 2005). Rapid NK cell reconstitution after AlloHSCT has been associated with improved OS and reduction in relapses (Pical-Izard, BBMT 2015).
