Jumping Translocations in Myelodysplastic Syndromes
Year: 2016
Type: article
Abstract: Jumping translocations (JTs) have been described infrequently in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), with less than 10 cases in the literature. Although JT have mapped most commonly to 1q, breakpoints involving other chromosomal loci, such as 11q and 3q, have also been described. MDS represent a heterogeneous group of diseases with ineffective hematopoiesis and varied clinical prognosis including a subset of high risk cases which progress to leukemia. Identification of these cases warrants more aggressive therapy early in the course, including hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT).
