Long-Term Organ Function in Children Following Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for Chronic Granulomatous Disease

Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Long-term outcomes data for patients after hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) is lacking and even more so in the non-malignant pediatric population. Hence, we analyzed 22 children with Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD) that underwent HSCT between 2003-2015 from matched related donors (MRD, n=6), matched unrelated donors (MUD, n=12), or mismatched unrelated donors (MMUD 9/10, n=4). The median age at the time of transplant was 5.5 years (range: 0.5-17 years). Sixty percent of the patients had lung disease prior to transplant secondary to previous infections or lung resection.
