Palaeofluid flow within the evolution of sedimentary basins: principles and examples from the Carboniferous of Belgium
Year: 2002
Type: article
Abstract: Within the different stages of the evolution of sedimentary basins, one or several groundwater flow systems may be active and interact. Often tectonics plays a major role in fluid migration. The principles of the different groundwater flow systems are presented. Several examples from the Carboniferous of Belgium are discussed to illustrate the different flow systems active during the Palaeozoic or Mesozoic.
