Abstract: Beneficial management practices (BMPs) were evaluated using the Integrated Modelling for Watershed Evaluation of BMPs (imWEBs) model in southern Manitoba. The hourly model was setup, calibrated (2005-06) and validated (2007-09) for the Steppler subwatershed using nine stream discharge and water quality monitoring station. After calibrating the model, three scenarios were evaluated: forage conversion, conventional tillage and small dams. A daily R2 and E outlet calibration of 0.269 and 0.155, respectively, and outlet validation of 0.108 and 0.077, respectively, was achieved. Sediment load results had a daily RMSE, CV and CORR outlet calibration of 0.607, 0.441 and 0.438, respectively, and validation of 0.392, 1.112 and -0.374, respectively. The evaluation of the three scenarios indicated beneficial reductions. However, the expected benefits were not as high; thus, suggesting a need to revisit the parameterization for the tillage management and the small dam reservoirs to achieve the correct magnitude reductions from BMP applications.
