Abstract: A novel bilayered hybrid biofoam is introduced, which is composed of bacterial nanocellulose (BNC) and graphene oxide (GO), and which is achieved through the incorporation of GO flakes into a BNC matrix during its growth for highly efficient solar steam generation. This fabrication approach, demonstrated by R. R. Naik, S. Singamaneni, and co-workers on page 9400 can be extended to other functional nanomaterials to realize biofoams for various applications. The bilayered structure is depicted, suspended on water, producing steam under solar illumination.
