Abstract: Genetic manipulation is an important tool to engineer organisms for biotechnological \napplications. While directed gene replacement has been established in many bacteria, only \nfew eukaryotic systems are known to allow targeted gene insertion into the nuclear genome. \nRecently directed nuclear gene insertion has been reported in the micro alga Nannochloropsis.
