Abstract: Desistance mandates compared with treatment mandates in criminal justice populations Policymakers and practitioners seeking to reduce substance use among criminally-involved individuals have alternatives to mandated treatment.The extent to which desistance mandates (or other alternatives) might be substituted for treatment mandates remains to be determined both by careful experiment and by closely-observed practice.
