Sand Casting in the Islamic World

Abstract: Sand casting leaves little evidence compared to other casting mould materials. Archaeological discoveries of sand casting flasks in the Islamic world date the method to at least as early as the 11th century AD. The history of sand casting in China and Europe is also considered.
