Abstract: Nowadays, there is a need to fit into a world \nincreasingly globalized, in which communication and foreign \nlanguages have more importance than some years ago. The \nEnglish language is, nowadays, the language of international \ncommunication. Taking this into account, foreign language \nlessons acquire, nowadays, more significance than in the past. \nFor that reason, English teaching should not be limited to the \nstudy of its structure, but to the use of the language in \ndifferent contexts in order to be adapted to this new reality. \n(Díaz Merino, 2010). These days, we can observe how English \nlanguage lessons try to fulfill the students’ needs for \ncommunication using different strategies and methodologies \nsuch as team teaching in the CLIL approach. This paper \nprovides some theoretical background about the \nmethodologies used in Spain in the past and the way in which \nwe can adapt them to the current English lessons in order to \nhelp students raise their English language level as well as \ntheir academic results
