Abstract: Following the introduction of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening in the early 1990s, there has been a 50% decline in prostate cancer-specific mortality and more than a 70% decline in the incidence of metastases at diagnosis. 1 Given the recent declines in PSA screening and prostate cancer incidence, we sought to assess the effect of these changes on prostate cancer presentation.SI conversion factor: To convert prostate-specific antigen to micrograms per liter, multiply by 1.0.a Data are given as number (percentage) per year unless otherwise noted.P < .05for trend for all variables.b Gleason grade was the combined score from surgery and biopsy before 2010 and biopsy Gleason score for 2010 to 2013.
