Abstract: From a chemical perspective, nearly all building blocks for plastics can be made using renewable raw materials. However, not every process is commercially feasible. Processes often remain inefficient, products have insufficient purity or the raw materials are simply too expensive. This publication provides more insight into the processes that are currently under development and the companies involved, as well as the current development stage (from R&D to commercial production).
