Comparative Proteomic Analysis of Skin in Acute Graft-Versus-Host Disease Compared to Autologous Graft-Versus-Host Disease and Normal Skin

Abstract: Although the pathogenesis of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is becoming increasingly understood and serum biomarkers of disease are being actively investigated, little is known regarding protein expression in affected tissues in human GVHD. To study the protein milieu in the skin in GVHD, we performed proteomic analysis of skin biopsies involved by allogeneic GVHD (allo-GVHD; n = 6) and autologous GVHD/GVHD-like syndrome (auto-GVHD; n = 3), compared with controls [normal post-hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) skin (n = 5)].
