Cross-Sectional Analysis of Sleep in Caregivers of Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant Patients: A Pilot Study

Year: 2017
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Background: Poor sleep quality can negatively affect metabolism, impair attention, increase the incidence of depression, and decrease quality of life. Stem cell transplant (SCT) is associated with prolonged hospitalization and caregivers experience a series of stressors that may lead to sleep disruption during hospitalization. We believe the caregivers of pediatric SCT patients have poor sleep quality while hospitalized. The aim of our study was to perform a quantitative analysis of sleep in the caregivers of pediatric SCT patients during hospitalization.
