Challenging Diagnosis of Hemosiderosis after Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT)
Year: 2017
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Introduction: Transplant candidates with hematologic malignancies are at risk from transfusional iron overload (TIO) but this typically manifests as biochemical and imaging changes and rarely causes overt end organ dysfunction. We present a case in which severe end organ damage from iron overload, possibly with a hereditary component, was recognized 2 months after transplantation.
