Impact on Outcomes of Baseline Bilirubin in Patients with Hepatic Veno-Occlusive Disease/Sinusoidal Obstruction Syndrome (VOD/SOS) after Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) Receiving Defibrotide Treatment: A Post-Hoc Analysis
Year: 2017
Type: article
Abstract: Introduction: VOD/SOS is an unpredictable, potentially life-threatening complication of HSCT conditioning. VOD/SOS with multi-organ dysfunction (MOD) may be associated with >80% mortality. Defibrotide is approved in the US to treat hepatic VOD/SOS with renal or pulmonary dysfunction post-HSCT, and in the EU to treat severe hepatic VOD/SOS post-HSCT. Defibrotide had been available in the US via an expanded-access program.
