Fluconazole 200 mg Daily As Antifungal Prophylaxis in Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Recipients: A Retrospective Review

Year: 2017
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Introduction: Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) are an important cause of morbidity and mortality in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients, affecting 3-10% of patients in the first year, with a mortality rate of 30-50%. Fluconazole (FLU) 400 mg daily is the standard of care for prophylaxis based on a survival benefit noted in a previous trial. We present a single-institution retrospective review of prophylaxis with a lower dose of FLU (200 mg daily until day +75) for allogeneic HSCT patients.
