Voriconazole Levels Indicate That Pediatric Prophylaxis Dosing May be Insufficient
Year: 2017
Type: article
Abstract: Background: Invasive fungal infections (IFI) contribute to morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients, particularly those undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplants (HSCT). Voriconazole is an antifungal with broad activity that is increasingly used for prophylaxis in the pediatric HSCT patients; however, the optimal starting dose and the influence of ethnicity on this is unknown. This information would diminish time to rapidly achieve therapeutic levels in order to minimize IFI risk.
