Development of an LMP-Specific T Cell Bank for Third Party Use As a Curative Strategy for Post-Transplant Lymphoproliferative Disease (PTLD) after Solid Organ Transplant
Year: 2017
Type: article
Abstract: Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) is a complication after solid organ transplantation that is frequently due to Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) because the suppression in EBV-specific T cell immunity allows for uncontrolled proliferation of EBV-infected B cells. Outcomes for PTLD are suboptimal with relapse rates approaching 50%. EBV-positive PTLD is a highly immunogenic disease with proliferating B cells expressing the EBV antigens LMP1 and LMP2 that can be targeted with immune therapy.
