Challenges with Diagnosing Pulmonary Chronic GVHD in Children as Per the 2014 National Institutes of Health Consensus Criteria: Applied Biomarkers of Late Effects (ABLE)/Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium (PBMTC) 1202 Study

Year: 2017
Type: article
Abstract: Introduction: The 2014 National Institutes of Health consensus criteria (NIH-CC) allows pulmonary cGVHD to be diagnosed based upon the combination of obstructive lung defects on pulmonary function testing (PFTs), CT findings (bronchiectasis, air trapping), and absence of infection (collectively termed bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome), rather than requiring biopsy-proven bronchiolitis obliterans (BO). We sought to understand the reliability of the 2014 NIH-CC for diagnosing pulmonary cGVHD in children within the context of a multi-institutional study.
