Abstract: This paper’s objective is to propose definitions and types of human alienation in modern society by using documentary analysis as its methodology. The study found that alienation is a condition in which humans separate themselves from the nature of all things related to human life. Alienation can be categorized into four types which are: alienation from one’s self, alienation from one’s work, alienation from society and culture, and alienation from natural environment. Interestingly, “the economic value” of the capitalist system nowadays might be a part of the human alienation in modern society. ความแปลกแยกของมนุษย์ในสังคมสมัยใหม่บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอเกี่ยวกับความหมายและประเภทของความแปลกแยกของมนุษย์ในบริบทสังคมสมัยใหม่ ด้วยวิธีวิเคราะห์เอกสาร โดยพบว่า ความแปลกแยก หมายถึง ภาวะที่มนุษย์แยกออกห่างจากความเป็นธรรมชาติของสิ่งทั้งปวงที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับชีวิตมนุษย์ โดยความแปลกแยกนี้แบ่งออกเป็น 4 ประเภท คือ ความแปลกแยกจากตัวเอง ความแปลก-แยกจากการงาน ความแปลกแยกจากสังคมวัฒนธรรม และความแปลกแยกจากธรรมชาติแวดล้อม และเป็นที่น่าสังเกตว่า “มูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจ” ของระบบทุนนิยมปัจจุบันอาจมีส่วนให้เกิดความแปลกแยกของมนุษย์ในสังคมสมัยใหม่ได้มากขึ้น
