Abstract: The main aim of this paper is the reconstruction of the position of Oskar Lange on welfare economics in the context of contemporary discussion on the relationship between perfect competition markets and economic efficiency (usually conceptualized by Pareto optimum). It will also look at the contribution to the achievements of Polish economist in terms of the development of economic thought and theory of socialism.
