Abstract: The Precambrian fossils of the Long Mynd, Shropshire, are becoming increasingly important to studies of palaeoecology and evolution immediately prior to the 'Cambrian Explosion' of animal life. Longmyndian fossils are discussed within the context of Ediacaran palaeontology, and their biological affinities are explored. Stratigraphic ranges for the taxa of the Longmyndian Supergroup are then provided, to assist in correlating the region with other global fossil localities.
