Status of development of the electric and hybrid vehicles, energy and environmental aspects of their use

Abstract: The impact of electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles on traffic, especially in urban areas has been considered in this paper. Factors that influence the development and implementation of EV such as: population growth, high oil prices which is more and more exhausted, pollution of the environment with global warming, as well as high efficiency electric propulsion have been explained by details. The basic characteristics of electric and hybrid drives have been explained. The development of EV in the world, with the technical conditions that have affected this development, is presented. Specifically, the development of EV in our country is explained from the first reconstructed vehicles TAM 2001-E. In addition, it has been showed the impact of technical solutions to the state of EV performance, considering that they has limited radius of drive, the infrastructure to the charging batteries has not developed and the price of EV is still high. As an interim solution to the full implementation of EV, and there are some HV today, which are integrating some good features of electric drive and vehicles with IC engines.
