Abstract: A joint R&D on a moon exploration rover, LUBOT (LUnar roBOT) is underway by AUT (Aichi University of Technology) and JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) The target mission is exploring the top of a 2000m class central peak of one of moon craters To negotiate steep slopes and unstructured terrains of the moon mountains covered with regolith, a new type of suspension mechanism which we call "pantagraph suspension", is proposed It has a significant advantage over a conventional rocker-bogie type suspension which is asymmetric relative to forward/backward movement
