Abstract: The article by Taunya Banks is the report of preliminary results of a statistical study, but her analysis bears many of the characteristics of an essay.23 Most empirical studies of law school, for example, have been conducted by social scientists rather than legal scholars.This fact may account for the inability of early studies to capture the heart of the issues as perceived by those within the legal profession.24 Weiss & Melling, 40 Stan L Rev 1299 (cited in note 7).
