Abstract: The paper describes history and current trends in implementation of Electronic Health Records (EHR) in the USA. The task isn't easy even for such a rich country and world's technological leader. After 40 years of efforts the implementation of electronic records in health is still patchy. The progress is to a large extent due to wise application of positive and negative stimuli. The paper discusses both the achievements and existing challenges related with EHRs.
