Abstract: Commentary on Wu et al. (2017): Do very brief reduction interventions increase quitting among smokers not ready to quit? Some smokers unready to quit will quit in response to a brief smoking reduction intervention.Whether this is due to their being more likely to try to quit, more likely to succeed, or both, and whether the intervention's effectiveness is due to reduction, advice to quit, or both is unclear.
