Abstract: Predatory publishing is a relatively recent phenomenon, which was first recognized 2008 to 2009 (Suber, 2009). Predatory publishers began exploiting authors shortly after the Open Access movement began. The Open Access movement created new journals that not only charged a fee but also provided authors with typical services including peer review and editing, while also providing free access to the article for anyone wanting it after acceptance (Broome, 2014). In addition, the author(s) retained the copyright to the article.
