Abstract: A patho-histological observation on the free gingival margin of pyorrhea alveolaris patients was conducted. The results obtained were analysed statistically by the x^2 method and the conclusions are drawn as follows. 1. Correlation may exist between the depth of pockets and the degree of destruction of inner epithelium, but the correlation may not exist between the depth of pus pocket and the formation of granular tissues, increase of connective tissues, infiltration of inflamed cells. 2. Formation of glanulation tissues and destruction of inner epithelium were observed more frequently on the interdental papilla than on the labial or lingual side of surrounding gingiva. (It should be conceded that these observations have been based on the statistically computed hypothesis which have naturally certain limitations.)
