Abstract: Soilborne plant pathogens can significantly reduce yield and quality in vegetable crops. These pathogens are particularly challenging because they often survive in soil for many years and each vegetable crop may be susceptible to several species.Simultaneous infections from multiple soilborne pathogens sometimes result in a disease complex that can further damage the crop. Many diseases caused by soilborne pathogens are difficult to predict, detect, and diagnose. In addition to this, the soil environment is extremely complex, making it a challenge to understand all aspects of diseases caused by soilborne pathogens.
