JAK Inhibitors Prior to Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant for Patients with Myelofibrosis: A Prospective Study

Year: 2018
Type: article
Abstract: Background: Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) is the only potential cure for myelofibrosis (MF). Current guidelines suggest that the risk of transplant related complications is acceptable only in transplant-eligible patients with <5 years expected survival (ie patients who are intermediate-2 or high-risk by the dynamic international predictive scoring system (DIPSS)). DIPSS has also been shown to be an accurate prognosticator for post-HCT outcome in MF with a median 5-year overall survival of 80%, 67%, 54%, and 38% in low, intermediate I, intermediate II, and high-risk patients, respectively.
