Abstract: Background: Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) are commonly used in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) to differentiate infectious from non-infectious etiologies. We now report a large case series of patients that underwent BAL at a single center. We examined the incidence and type of pathogens identified, as well as the overall impact of the BAL on clinical management.
