Low Amphiregulin Expression in Intestinal Biopsies of Patients with Acute Graft-Versus-Host Disease

Year: 2018
Type: article
Abstract: Background: Amphiregulin (AREG), a weak epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) agonist associated with unresolved damage, is elevated, while epidermal growth factor (EGF, a strong EGFR agonist) is low, in the blood of patients with severe acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD). However, the tissue expression of these EGFR ligands in human aGVHD target organs, and their association with clinical outcomes, is not yet known.
