Resolution of Secondary Thrombocytopenia with Thrombopoietin Receptor Agonists in Two Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplant Recipients Treated at a Pediatric Center
Year: 2018
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Background: Thrombocytopenia after prior platelet engraftment following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) can be secondary to numerous etiologies, such as infections, medications, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), autoimmunity, transplant-associated microangiopathy, poor graft function, or marrow stromal injury. Thrombopoietin receptor agonists (TRAs) are approved for the treatment of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and severe aplastic anemia (SAA) in the non-transplant setting.
