Safety of Allogeneic HCT in Beta Thalassemia Patients with Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infections Treated at a Pediatric Center

Year: 2018
Type: article
Abstract: Background: The outcome of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) in patients previously infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a widely debated topic and rarely reported in the pediatric age group given the small population of affected patients. New medications targeting HCV have induced virologic cures for many patients. Their use in the pre-transplant setting may improve outcomes for patients infected with HCV.
