Should BMT Become a Certified Subspecialty? Results of the 2017 Board Certification Survey
Year: 2018
Type: article
Abstract: Background: Certification for BMT physicians as a recognized subspecialty of internal medicine and pediatrics with its own certifying exam and ACGME accredited training programs has been previously considered by both ASBMT leaders and members, most recently in 2009. At that time, a Task Force conducted a membership survey and recommended that board certification not be pursued based on (1) absence of a clear mandate, and (2) anticipated pushback from ACGME due to reluctance to add new subspecialties.
