Outcomes after Second or Greater Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Children with Inherited Metabolic Disorders
Year: 2018
Type: article
Abstract: Background: Inherited metabolic disorders (IMD) are a group of genetic disorders associated with significant morbidity and mortality. In select IMD, early intervention with hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) restricts disease progression and improves outcomes. However, due to a relatively high incidence of graft failure patients often undergo subsequent transplantation. There has been limited information about outcomes and risk factors for poor survival after subsequent HSCT. Analysis of these factors could help inform strategies for better outcomes in IMD patients.
