Microbiota Diversity is Inversely Correlated Plasma Concentrations of Acute Gvhd Biomarkers ST2, REG3α and TNFR1 in Cord-Blood Transplant Recipients

Year: 2018
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Background: The plasma protein biomarkers ST2, TNFR1 and REG3α have emerged as non-invasive tools to diagnose and prognosticate aGVHD, and ST2 and TNF may contribute to GVHD pathophysiology. Similarly, features of the intestinal microbiota such as low α-diversity and abundance of specific species have been associated with GI aGVHD prognosis. While Reg3 is an antimicrobial peptide that is induced by the intestinal microbiota, the relationships between aGVHD biomarkers and microbiome composition are not known in transplant recipients.
