1503: Post-Operative PSA Values and PSA Velocity Predict the Presence of Prostate Cancer Following Various Surgical Interventions for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
Year: 2007
Type: conference-abstract
Abstract: CONCLUSIONS: Prostate volume and especially the transition zone volume are related to serum PSA in men with BPH and no evidence of prostate cancer.Since treatment outcome or risk of long-term complications depend on baseline prostate volume, serum PSA can estimate the degree of prostate enlargement sufficiently accurately to be useful for therapeutic decision making. However in each PSA range, the transition zone rather than the total prostate volume contributes to serum PSA levels in men with no evidence of prostate cancer.
