Kidney transplant outcomes: Position in the match-run does not seem to matter beyond other donor risk factors
Year: 2018
Type: letter
Abstract: We thank the author for their response to our publication in the American Journal of Transplantation.1 Using Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) data, we found no evidence that position of organ acceptance in the match-run was associated with allograft and patient survival after adjusting for important recipient and donor factors. Our conclusion was based in part on analyses examining position of organ acceptance as tertiles (1-3, 4-8, and 9-22101); we categorized acceptance position as tertiles because the values were extremely skewed and could not be readily transformed.
