Abstract: No scientific endeavour -its methodologies, processes, procedures or anything related to it -should ever be above reproach, critical evaluation or reconsideration, including the methodology of South Africa's National Research Foundation (NRF) for rating those researchers who apply for a rating.Chris Callaghan's 1 views on the NRF rating methodology must thus be welcomed.However, any such criticism must be fair, balanced, objective, properly justified and uncontaminated by personal grievances
