It's Not All in the Conditioning or the Perils of Early Trial Cessation
Year: 2018
Type: article
Abstract: Reduced-intensity conditioning (RIC) regimens were initially developed in an effort to offer a potential curative treatment to patients who were historically not considered candidates for allogeneic transplantation either because of age or advanced comorbidities. The lower treatment-related mortality (TRM) of these regimens led to an interest in exploring RIC in healthier and younger patients. Many retrospective studies showed no difference in overall survival (OS) compared with higher intensity conditioning regimens referred to as myeloablative conditioning (MAC) [1-3].
