Abstract: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain one of the most severe conditions facing patients with reported mortality rates of 17.92 million in 2015 (1). Myocardial infractions (MIs), a prevalent form of CVD, trigger localized cardiomyocyte loss after ischemic injury, and the following inflammatory response and deposition of extracellular matrix causes scar formation (2).
