Abstract: In this study, the effects of environmental stresses on photosynthesis and dark respiration were investigated under elevated ambient pressure condition. In particular, the effects of total pressure and partial pressures of CO2 and O2 on CO2 exchange rate of aseptic medium-cultured plants, Arabidopsis thaliana, were discussed. Results showed that the net photosynthesis increased and the dark respiration decreased under elevated ambient pressure. Increase in total pressure proved to inhibit photosynthesis and respiration. In addition, stomatal conductance could not be predicted by only diffusion coefficient. These results suggested that the stomataf were opened under elevated ambient pressure.
