First-in-human study of the monopolar spindle 1 (Mps1) kinase inhibitor BAY 1161909 in combination with paclitaxel in subjects with advanced malignancies

Year: 2018
Type: article
Study design: Clinical Trial
Abstract: Background: Mps1 is a serine threonine kinase and a core component of the spindle assembly checkpoint. Two potent, selective, and orally active Mps1 inhibitors -- BAY 1161909 (BAY; lead compound) and BAY 1217389 -- have shown improved efficacy in combination with paclitaxel (Pac) in xenograft models, including Pac-insensitive and acquired resistance models. We report here on the safety, tolerability, and maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of the lead compound BAY in combination with Pac.
