Abstract: The CART initiative relies on the principle of facilitating aging research through focusing on the end-user. Although much of the data capture design of the CART system incorporates passive sensing to maximize ecological validity, there are important instances where interactions may not or simply cannot be entirely unobstrusive. Thus, understanding the attitudes and beliefs of older adults’ experience in participating in this research is fundamental to the success of the system and any technologies employed. Since CART seeks to facilitate the use of remote assessment through sensors or devices among the research community, the end-user also includes the research teams engaged in recruiting and setting up systems in local communities across the four CART sites. This presentation will present the approach and preliminary data related to obtaining key information to guide the development of the home-based technologies across the cohorts engaged in CART.
