Porous Silicon: Vertical Integration of Cell‐Laden Hydrogels with Bioinspired Photonic Crystal Membranes (Adv. Mater. Interfaces 23/2018)
Year: 2018
Type: article
Abstract: Endothelial cells adherent to nanostructured porous silicon (PSi)-based photonic crystals. Here the authors demonstrate a multilayered structure of cell-laden hydrogels seperated by photonic crystal films that are designed to mimic membranes in biology. Engineering the surface chemistry and optical properties of the films enables multiple functionalities including biosensing of cell-secreted enzymes and biomolecule release.
